The Women’s World Cup

Most of my life I have been watching some football (soccer for those in the US. The last few years I’ve slowly gotten out of that habit because men’s football seems to lead to theatrics, violence and rioting by the “fans” in the stadium and an all encompassing greed for more money.

Not exactly why I enjoy watching sports. But Women’s football is a lot more fun because it is still a simpler and more honest style of football. Today the Women’s World Cup has started with a surprising win from New Zealand against Norway, in a fun game.

I’ve seen only short fragments as I have to work today and the dime difference between The Netherlands and New Zealand is big. But what I have seen, I have enjoyed a lot. Here’s hoping for a great tournament.
